Blog Post 2 - Short Film Production Analysis

This project has been particularly useful in developing a practical level of experience, by working on a film set, alongside a crew and using professional equipment. This project also provided an opportunity to work alongside students from other creative subjects, such as scriptwriting and music composition. I felt that this was a good experience for seeing what goes into the process of film production and has allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of all elements from concept to the final outcome.                             Prior to shooting, we collectively reviewed the original script, titled “The Birthday Card” and discussed any parts that we felt would need to be altered by the writer. Blog Post 1 - Contextualising Short Film Production

With the increased accessibility of inexpensive production equipment, independent films are becoming a popular medium of delivering short narratives in a creative and concise manner, whilst exhibiting a close resemblance to the industry standard level of production. In addition to this, short films are a great way to begin composing an initial foundation within the filmmaking realm, particularly for inexperienced, aspiring filmmakers. Some filmmakers simply wish to deliver a narrative that is dear to them, but may not have a sufficient budget to do so in the form of a feature. Therefore, producing a short, will add dimension to a growing portfolio and provide some insight and experience into what it takes to fabricate a feature film.
